Here's a strange one. When I fired up the MacBook this morning pushing down the trackpad no longer works to actually click anything. I can still "tap to click" though hard clicking doesn't work. I can't think of a single thing that could make the hard clicking stop working. I've tried restarting and repairing the permissions (though I didn't expect that to do anything) and it still isn't working. Do I have any options other than taking it in?

It's just strange because it was working fine yesterday, I sat it on the coffee table and it didn't move until I picked it up this morning and it wasn't working anymore...

Probably not very helpful this, but I get the reverse happening where the trackpad is the only thing that will click anything and my mouse doesn't work. Unplugging and plugging the mouse back in will generally fix that.

I assume you don't have a mouse plugged in though.

I had this happen to me sort of randomly as well on my 13" MacBook Pro. I moved to tap to click, and while the hard click isn't broken, it's definitely unreliable.

It should be working fine on those machines. I'd take it in and get it fixed personally. Maybe try blowing air under it first incase something is just blocking it like a grain of salt or something.
