Ok, so I've had my Apple ID/.mac email address since the days of iTools.
It's a stupidly simple email address, but its mine and I've had it for years. It is also not the same Apple ID that I use for iTunes/App Store. I did use it with .mac and then MobileMe for a time, but let the service expire because it was too expensive. So now, when I try to sign into iCloud with my xxx@mac/me.com apple ID, mail briefly displays a form asking me to create a new email address, then disappears. Then mail just sits there saying 'Starting' and does nothing. I can sign in with the Apple ID I use for iTunes, however, I can't use my old email address, they want me to put a hyphen or a dot in it. I can't delete the old ID as it is apparently carved into stone. Is my 11 year old email address lost forever? Is anybody else hitting this brick wall? |
