do apple's newly released products start appearing in apple stores around the ship date promised for pre-orders or sometime after that?

I'm guessing no earlier than Feb 15th (but more likely the 18th - the Saturday after the shipping date - that's the day of the week Apple introduces most new products in their stores).

So a good question would be...are there units available for in store purchase when they arrive? Or, do you go on a waiting list?

I had to fix the title of this thread.
In the English language, the apostrophe is never used to indicate a noun's plurality. |

the two store's i talked to said second week in february ...so the 8-15 or so....
some stores do waiting lists and some don't e.g. the SOHO store doesn't do a waiting list, but the Southpoint store in NC does |

Will they actuall stay in stock though? I didn't order one because I really need to see a new product first. If the battery life is decent, and it doesn't run too hot to actually use as a laptop, I'm all over it.

Totally awesome.

I bought the new Powerbook revision around this time last year. The stores had them around the same time they were shipping out, and I got ahold of one about a week later.
