Today I've been getting bounces of mail I send from my .mac account because the .mac smtp servers
are blocked due to SPAM.

http://www.spamcop.net/w3m?action=bl...=17.250.248.69

I hope they'll fix this soon.

A perfect illustration as to why these SPAM blacklist sites don't work, and should never be used.

I had a similar situation, our work administrator decided to start blocking SMTP based on a similar site, and suddently nobody in town could send any email from home because both the major ISPs where in the block list.

A good anti-spam tool should care as much about false-postives as it does about real spam. Nobody wants their legitimate email blocked or lost due to some stupid spam filter.

These spam blacklist sites don't give a crap about false positives. If a spam is sent from a site, the whole site is shut down. For a small amount of illegitimate usage, suddenly the vast majority of legitimate users are blocked.

It stinks and as soon as these sites are removed from the internet the better.

I used to work for a major ISP here in the UK and the amount of times our mail servers were blacklisted by these self appointed guardians of the internet was unbelievable.

Of course, us poor mugs on the phone always got the stick from the customer

Only thing you can do is wait to be unlisted
