Likely it's due to a coding change they made on their end.

I'm done and the server is back up!
Also, I put it in "offline mode" so it won't try to authenticate to Mojang for now. Less secure, but the only way we are going to be able to play until we upgrade. So get in there an finish up your projects 709! Louis L'Amour, “To make democracy work, we must be a nation of participants, not simply observers. There are several newer dev versions of Bukkit available through 1.7.5 but none for 1.7.6 or 1.7.7. I'll try to make the time to grab one and upgrade the server tomorrow night. That might help in the auth issues.

I thought I'd get a few morning blocks in, but the server seems to have gone missing (not like yesterday, this is the plain 'ol "Can't connect" message). So it goes. |

Yeah, seems like I'm having a pretty bad issue inside the VM right now. I can't SSH in directly from anywhere other than my local network. I end up connecting to another machine then SSH into the VM. I can't ping from within the VM to anything else.
Code:
$ ping 8.8.8.8
connect: Network is unreachable I'm working on figuring out what's happening in there but at work so limited in the amount of time I can put into it right now. It might have to wait until I get home from work tonight.In the mean time, I've brought up the FTB machine. Route was missing the the gateway. I manually added it and things seem back to normal though I can't try the game right now. Give it a shot if you don't mind and post back if there are still issues.

FWIW, they don't have a patch ready yet for the 1.7.6 protocol changes. As soon as I see one become available, I'll take it for a spin and upgrade our server.

Surprise! Bukkit now has dev builds for 1.7.8. I'll download the latest version later tonight and see if it's good to upgrade on our server.

Woo Hoo! Can't wait to see what the upgrade brings. Now that I'm on the new username settings thing, it'll be another new thing. Maybe even changing the username or something. (Dropping the numbers if possible.)
Also, they just released 1.7.9 for bug fixes and patching stuff. Louis L'Amour, “To make democracy work, we must be a nation of participants, not simply observers. I don't really have directions on this one Drew. I just followed the guide after logging into my minecraft.net account. It's kinda walks you through the process pretty easily.

FYI, I'm about to take the game offline to update it to the bleeding-edge version of Bukkit with the new protocol support. It identifies as 1.7.8, but a 1.7.9 client appears to be compatible with a 1.7.8 server.
If all goes well, this means you should update your Minecraft launcher profile to "Use Latest Version" or "release 1.7.9" before you try to connect again. Oh noes!
Edit: FYI, I checked and you do have my UUID correct. Anyone wondering what your UUID is you can see it in the launcher_profiles.json file in your .minecraft folder. Dang. I got that the first time too, and I thought I got it sorted out for everybody. I'll take a quick stab at it now, but I have to go to bed soon. Early morning scheduled for me here tomorrow...

Try now?
It looks like something is causing the server to forget its in-memory whitelist. Firing the "whitelist reload" command from the shell seemed to get it back into shape. I'll put in a temporary cron job to reload the whitelist every, hmmm, 10 minutes maybe? The quality of this board depends on the quality of the posts. It wasn't you.
My whole home lost connectivity. I'm guessing it's a service outage but I'm having to troubleshoot via texting to Mrs T. While I'm at work. The kicker is I was doing stuff there too when I lost connection. Louis L'Amour, “To make democracy work, we must be a nation of participants, not simply observers. It's bad.
Worse than just that 709, my ONT is bad and has to be replaced. It's scheduled for Saturday 0800-1200. The ticket is marked for "priority" so it may be done sooner. I'll be sure to post when I have a connection again that's considered stable. In the mean time, feel free to try to get in at any time, it just might work.
