Hi everybody. Its been a while since I posted. Grad school has started and its been a bit rough. Anyway I had a powerbook before, which I sold to get my iMac.
Ive been having this problem where the iMacs fan is on consistently, and on checking Activity Monitor, I see that Safari is using up 90% of the resources. Once I quit safari, things go back to normal and then safari behaves for a few days. I think it happened with camino once as well but its only with the web browsers. This happens as long as safari is running- I dont have to be browsing. Thanks for your help |

There have been a fair few recent topics about the latest Safari performing poorly:

Found this on Apple Discussion Board for fixing Safari weirdness...
In Terminal: Code:
sudo mkdir /etc/lookupd
sudo sh -c "echo TimeToLive 300 > /etc/lookupd/hosts"
sudo sh -c "echo ValidateCache NO >> /etc/lookupd/hosts" then reboot, or useCode:
sudo kill `cat /var/run/lookupd.pid` in Terminal |
