Yes, from a 3/4 type of angle. It sure does.
So let the speculation, insanity and, in some cases, sheer stupidity begin! Either that's an AirPort Express and the event is centered around wireless (is that worthy of a special event though?), or it's some funky new product utilizing wireless. Ohmigosh, the TABLET!!!!!!!!!!! (that falls under the "sheer stupidity" heading above). In any case, two-and-a-half weeks. Not too bad... |

Either that or it might bring video streaming to your tv via the new airport express for those who are buying tv shows off of the iTMS.
Who knows. Let the insanity begin! |

Yea, I'm waiting for other sources to confirm this before I believe there is even an event.

Actually, it is indeed the stock Apple PR shot of their AirPort Express...meaning it's a high res photo that anyone can access and do whatever with (including blowing up/zooming in quite large and still appear crisp sharp).
http://www.apple.com/pr/products/airport/express.html My own version, exactly 2:45 seconds in Photoshop (downloaded actual PR photo from above, placed into 5"x3.25" document, scaled/positioned accordingly, added type, added secretive, mysterious "blur" on contact info, etc.): Not saying this event is, or isn't, real. Just saying it's all too easy to fake something like this. And from such an easily available photo. Add to that, as mentioned above, Apple "giving away" the product or outright focus so blatantly. We'll just have to see. I'm currently at 50/50 on this, but am leaning toward "fake" if I had to guess. |

Yeah, I thought that it was highly unlikely, but I was so excited about being able to be the first to post a bona fide rumor, I couldn't help myself. Apple doesn't usually notify about special event until about a week before, so this 2.5 week lead time would be very unusual.

One simple way to tell if this is for true...
I'm going to email Steve Jobs and let him know that we know all about his secret product. If AN shuts down within 24 hours, we all know it was the real McCoy; that Mr. Jobs indeed is going to show off his new iBullcrap, but if AN putters along then it's a spam. P.S. is it me or is the "apple special event" on Torifile's image a bit off angle here? |

Possibly. That actual PR shot of the AirPort Express...the sides aren't perfectly vertical. I slightly rotated mine to make it appear so.
If this guy just used the existing shot, it might make the type look a bit off (in relation to that vertical corner to the right). I'm not sure if that's what you're talking about, but it was the first thing I noticed when I opened the PR photo. |

Actually, it seems that he straightened it up a bit. If anything, it's just a smidge counterclockwise (half a degree or so, as you can tell by my two blue guidelines).*
I think it's mostly an optical illusion, heightened by that skewed Apple logo and status light...making things look a tad off, since it's not being viewed straight on and level? * You know it's a lazy, do-nothing Sunday when I actually have the time and desire to delve this deeply into something that is a fake invitation to an event that probably doesn't exist. It would be funny if it weren't so sad... |
