Has anyone else had a problem with dark-and-light banding on the bottom portion of a MacBook Pro display? It's the early 2008 revision with a matte screen and this is the first time it's happened. I was just watching a video when the screen dimmed. At first I thought the light sensors had messed up so I tried to raise the brightness manually but it was already at 100%. That's when I noticed the banding at the bottom of the screen.
It's almost as if part of the backlight failed. Vertical bands, about 1/2 inch thick, alternating light and dark, up to about an inch tall. I found a thread on the Apple Support message board but I haven't noticed any permanent fixes. Admittedly, the thread is huge and I haven't read all of it yet. http://discussions.apple.com/thread....readID=1423301 Anyone else have the problem? I'm going to take it to the Apple Store tomorrow if I can't clear it up. edit: Closing and opening the lid takes care of it for now. |
