When you do a backup to a Carbonite or similar service, do you actually backup your entire MAC HD or do you select a subset of it? Also since I'm using Comcast Broadband to do this it seems like if I backup the entire hd it will take several days to do so. Would I be better off using an external disc drive for storage?

I use Carbonite, and I back up everything but the applications. I'd consider it a back-up for my back-up--having a local external drive is terribly convenient.
