Wow, I just now found out. I've been out of the loop (and nowhere near a computer or TV all day; not even a radio after noon or so).

I know exactly where this happened, having lived in San Diego. My ex-wife was stationed at Miramar for a brief period in 1996-1996 as it was becoming a Marine air station; MCAS El Toro up in Orange County - where she was first stationed - was closing down, so they were moving those F-18 squadrons (she was on the support crew during her earlier years in the Marine Corps) down to Miramar, so we know the area quite well. University City is directly west of the air station, between Miramar and La Jolla (and the ocean, about two miles away).
