The volume that's comfortable for headphones is too low for hearing much of anything on the iBook's internal speakers. I want to set things up to drop the volume when something's plugged into the audio out jack while keeping the volume nearly maxed when using the speakers. Only the system prefs don't seem to have that option; I can play with the balance for separate audio devices, but the volume is apparently a global setting. Does anyone know of a system hack to get it to do what I want?
