I really hope the $3000 price was just a filler based on the current price. It is crossed out at least.

EDIT: Crap. Just found this:

http://purplemacaroni.com/images/Amazon.jpg

Looks like they took that down and replaced it with something just a little less informative.

From the amazon-site

Amazon.com Sales Rank: None
ASIN: B0007OW502
Item model number: M9749LL/A
Date first available at Amazon: April 27, 2005

So, will we know tomorrow? Will it just be 2100 or so dollars?
Luca, I pray...

EDIT. Luca, thanks to you we all got proof!

A $500 drop for all models would be nice. They could even drop the single processor version and just put the duals at $1500, $2000, and $2500. Staying at the same price points while not introducing ANY new technology at all or providing any worthwhile upgrades even in basic features would be ridiculous. But it might happen

I'd edit that post to just link to the image, Unbeliever. I'm sure it's wreaking havoc on some of those with smaller screens. Ta.

I find it hard (very hard indeed) to believe (almighty me!) that Apple allows Amazon to 'spread the news' like this before Apple does it herself (Ta!.)

Ofcourse it's not BIG news... but still it makes me wonder... especially because both Amazon & Apple are both notoriously careful with these kind of things...

And I also see a pattern with 'Steve Jobs' being 'pissed off' because of a 'mistake' that another company makes... but what the hell there's the buzz... and buzz is good for buisiness...

O, Boooh,
I am getting carried away... I'll lock myself up now... and throw away the key.

I'm more interested in the next iMacs personally. But I guess if these powermacs just happened to be dual core(yea right) that'd be pretty neat, I still wouldn't be buying one though.

That said, Amazon's blunder was pretty uncharacteristic of them(then again they did it with tiger). You'd think apple would just go ahead and release the sucker, it's not that big of a deal.

And again....

Advertising a merely speed-bumped computer one day early is not a big deal at all.

No way, jobs would never use Doritos, he'd use something more exquisite, like terra chips or some fancy all organic blue chip.

Does anyone think this 'leak' might have had adverse effects on the stock today? which started high and ended low.

I doubt it, the general market was about the same. Yahoo Finance didn't have any articles mentioning it and there is generally a about a 10-30 min lag between when an article is posted there and effects in the stock price.

Steve must be having fun this week, Tiger shipping early, and now this. For some reason this whole thing screams conspiracy between Amazon and Apple. I guess I can't give in to the idea that we won't see dual cores.

Apparently there's a rumor* going around that all of the three new iterations of the PowerMac have air-cooled processors - or that Apple wants them to be exclusively air-cooled. Whether this perceived want becomes a reality is something we'll find out soon enough.

Nope, on the design page the liquid cooling section says that the 2.7Ghz has the radiator.

The PowerMacs have been officially updated, so this thread is done.
