the left USB port on my macbook pro does not work all of the time. my ipod will not sync from this usb port and my midi keyboard will not work. i have a lacie external hard drive and it works from this port. the other port on the right side works with everything. any ideas? thanks.

Does the Lacie have a separate power supply? But the iPod and the Midi keyboard take power from the USB cable? If so, it sounds like the 5v power supply connection in the USB socket has gone. I don't think that's the type of thing you want to try and fix yourself.

the lacie does not have an external power supply, it gets its power from the usb port.

I don't suppose you are having the kind of problems I am having?

Mouse tracking, whether it be Bluetooth or USB does not work longer than 15 - 20 seconds before crapping out for about 30 seconds.

Also, my iPod will not allow large file transfers to it.

Other than that USB works fine for all other applications on my MBP.
