Most likely there will be a new product announced at WWDC (hopefully iBook). After the announcment how long does it usually take for the product(s) to hit the stores? I'm trying to snag the $100 student mail in rebate (expires end of June) on a new iBook.

Thanks
Tim

It depends. If it's really awesome, like the G5, it probably won't appear in stores until late summer, even fall. On the other hand, it's quite possible that it'll be like the iPod shuffle, and will be available almost immediately.

Ok, so let me get this straight, we don't have a real speculation thread on what might be the hardware or software product released at WWDC, we have a speculation thread on when those unspeculated products will be available for purchase???

I think I sniffed diesel fumes for too long today on the bus to and from the zoo with #6 for his field trip......

Is there any chance a PB update will happen then? I'm trying to decide whether I should buy now or put it off a while longer (just for WWDC).

Let me introduce you to Apple's biggest mistake...

A phone that requires users to completely adjust to a new way of dialing. It may seem like a minor issue, but people will not like that the numbers aren't setup the same way they are on most or all current phones.

Reminds me of those Nokias with the messed up number pads. Very stupid. No one likes them.

Besides, how long as the iPhone been rumored? Several years I'm sure! It's not going to happen.

Hey, I still think that the mobile phone industry desperately needs the "apple touch".

Time flies...it seems as though MWSF was just last month.

I've heard the possibility of new ACD screens, both to replace the subpar 23" models that have been so unreliable, and to offer screens that have the swivel capability which is now built into Tiger.

Possibly the same chassis with some hinge modifications, and new panels across the board?

...into the light of a dark black night.

Well, the stand is made to be removed easily. I seem to recall that they were selling a mounting kit to replace the stand last year. So, it's possible that they will sell a new add-on stand/hinge, rather than adding the rotary hinge across the line. Since the new ACD's are only a year old, it is less likely that the configurations will change.

Edit: Whoa! 500th post!

WWDC stands for...

WORLD WIDE DEVELOPERS CONFERENCE

Anything annouced here is purly for the paying developers to get a head start on writing apps and producing adapters etc for the announced hardware and software.

I would wait until after WWDC before making a buying decision as they might announce a new product that you decide you would prefer to save for and buy in 6 months.

I am a bit crap at remembering dates, but I am sure if there was ever anything announced at WWDC that was immediately available - Brad will jump all over my post!

OK, I have given up keeping this sig up to date. Lets just say I'm the guy that installs every latest version as soon as its available!
