I was going to guess the kind of mile that's approximately 5,280 feet...but I could be wrong. Perhaps there's more than one kind?

I think maybe he means the so-called metric mile (1500m) versus imperial/english mile (5,280 ft or approx. 1600m)?

Or perhaps the nautical mile, which I recall as 1.1507 statute miles from my days of dead reckoning in Flight Sim 98 (hey, that was an important number!).

But more likely he was referring to the commonly employed "internet mile", the exact conversion rate of which varies depending on the scrupulousness of the poster, but is always a bit shorter than the statute mile.

Speaking of that, there's a video floating around on the net somewhere that shows kids at a high school track running and after each completed lap they down an entire beer.... The object is to be able to run the most laps without vomiting.
