I found this article about gambling in Russia from Moog's link in his thread; got a chuckle out of this gem:

Wow. That little duck who was shot and spent two days in the fridge is back in the news. Apparently she was in surgery to fix her injured wing and she basically died. Twice.

I'd better bite my tongue on this one
![]() My uncle is a longtime veterinarian and he always is telling me about people with too much money wanting surgery for their fish, or a $10,000 operation on their cat, who will probably die within the next few years of old age anyway. Maybe I'm just a cynic ![]() ![]() |

I once visited this place in Sitka, Alaska. It's a rehabilitation center for injured birds of prey, mostly eagles.
Sometimes an eagle will grab a salmon from the water that's so heavy that the eagle will get dislocated wings from trying to carry such a heavy fish. The eagle will just sink to the ground and die if not rescued, because it can't fly anymore. Eagles are plentiful in Sitka. I enjoyed touring the raptor rehab center, because they rehabilitate and return to the wild so many eagles! They are quite magnificent birds. (Many have been shot by idiots who just want to see if they can hit a bird in flight. Grrrr.) https://www.alaskaraptor.org/AboutArc/Index.cfm |

My oldest cat, Nrpl (rhymes with purple) has had 13 years of perfect health, then a tumor developed on her foot. Got the tumor whacked off, but found out that she's diabetic! Now I give her a shot of insulin every 12 hours. Pretty crazy, but that's what you do for a beloved pet I guess. At least, that's what I do. ![]() |

Bring me some dope, officer
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17307671/ A middle school teacher in Murray, KY*, has been arrested because she accidentally sent text messages looking to buy pot to a state trooper instead of a dealer. The cop set up a meeting with her and arrested her when she arrived. Note to pot smokers: Put your dealer in speed dial. ![]() *This story is infinitely more funny to me because that's the city where my dad earned his undergraduate degree. ![]() |

Plane crash in Indiana kills 2
This is just bizarre for me. I grew up in the county where the crash happened. I know people who fly small planes out of the airport where this pilot was trying to land. As it turns out, I didn't know the people involved in the crash, but it's still so strange to me. Nothing like this has ever happened there before. ![]() [edit] I just re-read the story and noticed that investigators think this was intentional. That's so terrible. Not only was the pilot killed, but his 8-year-old daughter was in the plane, too. He tried to kill the relative in his house and he murdered his own daughter. This is so damn sad. ![]() On top of this, the baseball team that was in the bus crash last week plays in my school's conference. What a sad, bizarre week of news for me. ![]() Last edited by Wyatt : 2007-03-06 at 07:45. |

Snoop Dogg is denied a UK visa. And he's "mystified" as to why? Oh PLEASE!!!
![]() He goes around breaking laws everywhere, and yet he's surprised when an actual 'consequence' is finally applied to him and his incorrigibly bad behavior? HA! ![]() Can't participate in the highlight of his tour because he's been a bad boy? Ohhh, poor baby, what a crying shame. ![]() Quote:

I agree on this one! If I were to get convicted of anything here I'd more than likely get denied a visa for the US. I guess that system is reciprocated. Celebrity status should never amount to special treatment in any way whatsoever.
I was actually going to post this here when I read it yesterday but never got round to it! |

This is about the first time I've heard anything actually done to him for his behavior and actions. If he was anyone else he probably would've been thrown under the jail YEARS ago! He should be thankful this is all that he has to deal with (not allowed into the UK for a tour...boo-friggin'-hoo), considering. He's lucky to be free, rich and famous...and should consider acting accordingly (if I'd been caught up in 1/3 of the shit he's been, I'd be in the joint...any of us here would).

Basically, he's saying: "Oh, I really love it over there in Britain. Please let me come and perform there." And they're saying: "Sorry. You've been behaving like an a$$hole everywhere you've been; and, frankly, we just don't want you here, acting like an arrogant, spoiled-brat, juvenile. Maybe once you grow up and act like a responsible adult, we just might reconsider." Ohhh, I just love it. ![]() |

Ugh. Frozen and then liquidized to use as fertilizer?
![]() Instead, how about a cane-toad shake or smoothie? ![]() ( Thought I'd try to gross out AWR just a little bit more. ![]() ![]() Well, hey, where I live, we have these *gargantuan* toads that like to hop onto roads at night and snuggle up to the warm asphalt after an evening rainshower has given the coldblooded creatures a chill. I was driving down the road one night and tried to miss this huge toad sitting there, but just as I got to him, he gave a big hop and landed right under my tire. Omg. The memory of that resounding *SPLAT* even now echoes in my brain. *shiver* ![]() Spoiler (click to toggle):

All charges in the Duke Lacrosse rape case are dropped.
CNN story CNN video Local news video of the press conference So these guys were sleazy (IMO) but didn't do anything illegal. The funny thing I suppose is that the state AG says that he thinks the accuser was earnest about her story, even as it changed. Basically, she's got a screw loose. Now come the counter-suits against the individuals, the county, the police, the University, and of course Nifong's possible disbarment. |

![]() EDIT: Ehr, yes. I just see you said that, and that I quoted it. I must be blind. ![]() So here's a new idea. Since these toads have the ability to inflate, why not just inflate them and then deep-fry them. That would make kind of a toad Piñata. I guess you could fill it with McToad™ nuggets once it's cooled down a little. This might be crazy talk. ![]() |
