I need to renew my Mobile Me subscription before Apple does the automatic renewal for $99. Looking at Amazon, they have it for $64.99. They also have a listing for Mobile Me (OLD VERSION) at $43.12.
Since it's just a product key, is there any reason why the OLD VERSION wouldn't work? Of course, it may be irrelevant because I'm also considering the Family Pack and that one seems to be priced more consistently between 'current' and 'old'. And given that Find my iPhone is now free... shouldn't Mobile Me be cheaper?

Cheaper would be nice, but it could be argued that since the price never went up when they added Find My iPhone, then there's no reason to drop it now.

Someone has a thread on here that mentioned they used an [OLD VERSION] from Amazon and it worked fine.

OK, so I just searched and found the thread you mentioned. It was from only a month ago too - I must have missed it somehow.
