I received the following e-mail yet I don't have the technical background to give a really solid rebuttal

Tempo is only supported on Internet Explorer If they stuck with standards then this statement would not be true, right? Quote:

If they stuck to standards the program probably would not work in IE

One thing I feel like everyone misunderstands about multi-browser support is this: there are two kinds of browsers: IE, and standards-compliant ones. Multi-browser support isn't having one set of code for Firefox, one for Safari, and one for Opera, its having one set of code for ALL of those, with only a few minor tweaks for each one. However, the universe at large isn't really ready to accept open-source solutions over Microsoft ones*, so this is probably a battle you can't win. Not right now. *Disclaimer: I am probably a little bitter over just having lost my job in defense of open standards over propetary bullshit, so take that with a grain of salt. Logic, logic, logic. Logic is the beginning of wisdom, Valeris, not the end. |
