I'd forgotten how enjoyable this stupid show was.

Ohmigosh, it's horribly dated (and part of the fun in watching is seeing the excessive Jeri Curl usage, insane henchmen mullets, 80's clothes, interior decor and that whole decadent South Florida cocaine/wealth culture). But they try hard to do that "grim, heavy" thing (especially their captain, played by Edward James Olmos). There are moments of obvious Acting™, but that low, droning ominous music during "tense moments" is great.

Oh, and there are about 26 gunfights per episode!

Realizing it's been 20 years! Like the 25th anniversary of Lennon's death, I'm amazed at how fast time has flown by. I didn't miss this show when I was in high school. And this is really the first time I've seen in since then.

Wow, the 80's are really smacking me full on in the face this week!

What next...a Loverboy reunion and world tour, kicking off here in my hometown?!?

You can tell it was latching on to that whole MTV thing, with the flashy quick-cuts, funky angles and lighting, neon everywhere, rock soundtrack (and guest stars: Phil Collins, Power Station, Ted Nugent , etc.).

A total guilty pleasure, and since it's about 29 degrees outside I don't feel one damn bit bad about watching a few of them on my Saturday.

Don Johnson/Crockett is STILL pretty cool, I have to say.

AND, I have to give it to TV Land: they've named this little 24-hour marathon Pastel-evision (a nod to some of those suits/T-shirts Johnson has been sporting: so far I've seen peach, turquoise, powder blue, lilac and a light lemon yellow). Clever, catchy name.

Good stuff. So if you're a child of the 80's, you're home for the evening and you want a few guilty pleasure chuckles at 80's culture, flip on TV Land and enjoy.

I spent a large period of my life in jeans, a BRIGHT t-shirt and a really expensive suit jacket because of Don Johnson!

Love that program!

I remember when they used to have Miami Vice parties in Atlanta... people would actually show up in t-shirts covered by a sport jacket and rolled up sleeves. "Yah, me and Don used to kick it down in the Keys but now I'm just too busy anymore..."

It's fun to see these guest star appearances. In the past few episodes I've watched (or have clicked by), I've seen:

- Bruce Willis (with a head full of hair)
- Kyra Sedgwick(!)
- Benicio del Toro
- Liam Neeson
- Melanie Griffith
- George Takei (Mr. Sulu)
- Brian Dennehey(sp)
- Ben Stiller
- Captain Lou Albano (remember, that whole MTV/wrestling thing was big for a brief moment in the 80's...Cyndi Lauper and Captain Lou, remember?)

All those, in addition to the musicians I mentioned earlier (Nugent, Collins, Power Station, etc.). Also, the foxy Sheena Easton...meow!

And don't forget Annette Bening. She looks pretty hot with long hair.

Annette Benning is one of those actresses you just don't see that often or hear much about - and she usually plays a very maladjusted character - but she can be SO hot when she takes on certain looks.

I totally agree. MILF city, Ms. Bening...

Her neurotic, self-absorbed and icy character in "American Beauty" was both repulsive and a turn-on. What can I say?

Wacky hotness on a stick...

I missed the "Miami Vice" with her...

Julia Roberts guest starred as a bad guy's girlfriend in a episode. Might have even been a two parter.

Wow...that's a pretty impressive list of guest stars!

I wonder who else...

I need to Google that.

Ah, here we go:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086759/guests

- Jimmy Smits
- Ed O'Neill (Al Bundy!)
- Dennis Farina
- Glenn Frey
- Esai Morales
- Charles S. Dutton
- Pam Grier
- Penn Gillette
- Gene Simmons
- Eartha Kitt
- Little Richard
- Nathan Lane
- Miles Davis(!)

...and on and on and on! Wow...check the link above for all the others. Quite an impressive list!

And I'm only picking out the names most of us would recognize. Lots of character actors or less famous performers (Giancarlo Esposito, Jeff Fahey, etc.) who you'd still recognize in a heartbeat from their numerous TV and movie roles over the years.

She's a little evil looking in that particular frame of the movie but I don't know... when she's smiling or uses those eyes to make certain expressions... *sproing!*. Hair has a lot to do with it too. The director in American Beauty intentionally made her hair very stiff looking in some scenes, to more accurately portray her character. But when it's more of a natural flowing hair thing... *double-sproing!*

And...your point?

She got a little "less stiff" as the movie went on, of course.

Tousled hair on an otherwise straight-laced type is one of my favorite things.
