That is what nintendo is repeatedly claiming. That the revolution is truly going to be a gaming revolution re:innovation and fun factor. That said, it seems like the spec whore war with consoles has gotten to such an extreme point that even if the revolution provides the best gaming experience it will likely be dwarfed and forgotten about in the face of these two other juggernauts. Of course, nintendo hasn't said much about the revolution, but they aren't fools, and they have indicated that it will be able to hold its own against the xbox 360 or the PS3. Which may have been true based on preliminary rumors of the two systems and not hold up against the final specs... we'll just have to wait and see. Well, regardless of where nintendo is ultimately headed. I will still get a revolution, because I'm a big fan of their primary franchises. |

Holy Morry,
This is definately a step up from current consoles as opposed to what Xbox 360 demoed on that MTV special. Unbelievable http://www.zombieculture.com/img/Killzone_02.jpg http://www.zombieculture.com/img/Killzone_01.jpg http://www.zombieculture.com/img/KZ_03.jpg |

And, there we go. Unreal 3.0 engine on PS3 as well as Xbox 360. Daaaamn.
Now I know what my wife has been so damned smug about for the past two weeks. (She's a production assistant at Epic.) |

I heard Microsoft was going to release Halo 3 on the day of PlayStation 3's release.
That would be sooo evil... |

I wouldn't read too much into hardware specs. Whoever comes with the games will win the next generation of the console wars. Just look at the current generation, PS2 is technologically inferior to both the Xbox and Gamecube but has a commanding lead because it has (save RE and Halo) all the good games.

as hot as GTA3 etc was on the PS2, can u even imagine what GTA4 on PS3 will be like. this, and ONLY this, is all that matters to me in the war of consoles. 2006 huh....

I really hope these consoles aren't going to be as insanely expensive as it looks like they very well could be. I try to buy every one of the consoles, because they all have a lot to offer ( I haven't yet bought an XBox due to it's size factor ). But if we're talking $300+ a pop there's no way I'm getting them all.
I am certain Nintendo will keep the price in check, it's thse other two fellas that have me worried a little bit. |

I would expect both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 to be $300 minimum(well $299)
The Revolution, in turn, will probably be $249 just to smack them in the face a little. It's insanity though, all that power, for $300... It would be a terrible shame if they couldn't justify $300 and the average price became more like $450 or $500... so much for game consoles heh. Of course they all sell on a huge loss with these things, and I'm sure they know what they're doing, and the prices will inevitably come down as they always do. |

Engadget had some interesting coverage of the XB360 E3 event.
Here are some details that peaked my interest:

The PS3 is awesome, and the controller...not so much. I'll miss the DualShock (provided Sony doesn't change the controller - it's been getting a pretty negative reaction) but I'm very excited for the next generation of consoles.
I'll buy an Xbox 360 at launch, but only because it comes out first. I'm much more excited about the PlayStation 3, and Nintendo's wild card, the "Revolution." |

If the revolution is supposed to be super tiny. Then we can rule out it being more powerful than the 2 others. Though it will likely still pack a wallop

Nintendo has already stated that they are not aiming to match Sony and MS in hardware performance numbers.

I heard a few months ago that the Revolution's controllers would have gyroscopic sensors, so not only would they be wireless but they'd be able to sense the movement and orientation of the controller itself, not just the buttons you press. That could make for some interesting stuff.
