My friend owns a Quicksilver Powermac G4. He is always complaining about how his computer can't run garage band b/c of the comp's lac of ram. I told him to go buy a cheap 256 mb ram stick. He tells me, "naw, I'd rather spend my money on other things y'know..." And I'm just sitting here thinking, "then why in the hell are you telling me about how much you wish you could run garage band..." The kid's 15, and he has his own checking account, and he's TERRIBLY frugal. I'd really like him to be able to run garage band (I REALLY need to use that program sometime in the coming months, but I sadly don't own a mac...), I really want him to have a better computing experience. I know his parents wouldn't be against this, they upgrade ram on their business computers all the time. How might I convince my friend to go out and buy some friggin ram for this VERY capable powermac (which is totally being underused!)?

How much RAM does he have right now? 256 MB? I'd offer to ship you my spare 256 MB module for free, but it won't work in a Quicksilver since it's PC3200 and not PC133.

Anyway, maybe if you can just convince him that for $35, it'll be a more drastic upgrade to his computer than ANYTHING else he can buy...

Yeah, I got an orange NewEgg logo T-shirt with my last order. I think I'll get a Logitech MX1000... it's in my cart, begging me to buy it...
