Hi all,
Well been a few weeks since i was last here but finally got my first mac. Its 500 Mhz G3 imac with 64 mb ram and 10 gb Hard disk and dvd rom drive. I am vey computer literate so i its just a case of dropping in some Ram to get this machine up to spec and i have a spare 40 gb hard disk lying around and puttign on OS X. How easy is to install a disk in an imac ? What memory is compatible ? i have plenty of 128mb and 256 mb Pc100 and pc133 Dimms lying around. Overall i paid £100 (UK) on ebay for this box would this be considered reasonable ? I'm hoping to do the upgrades get familiar with it and sell it on for a bit of a profit to go towards a g4. Just have to find somewhere to put it along with the all the rest of the pcs now frak |

If you don't want to rush into buggerising around with the spare HDD, you can radically reduce the size of an OS X installation by not installing all the pesky extra languages and printer drivers*— it'll save you about 1.5 GB of space. 10GB is probably OK for fairly casual use. Quote:
