A friend of mine at work is having problems with OS X.
When he logs in, the login window is repeated many times randomly on his monitor. If he grabs the window to move it, it turns into a kaleidoscope of windows. Trying to click on a file or folder is almost impossible since nothing is drawn correctly. When he runs Classic, everything is fine, but when he goes back into OS X the problem comes back. He's rebooted, repaired permissions with no improvement. Something to do with Quartz? Any thoughts or ideas about fixing the situation are greatly appreciated. I'm trying to find out exactly what type of G4 and the OS version number. I'll post more details when I get them. Thanks. |

For some reason this is reminding me of a prank that was available under Classic - did someone resurrect it for OS X?

I had something similar happen where if I moved a window it would leave a trail. Much like if you open 10 files in photoshop, it offsets them so much so you can see all of them.
I really don't recall what I did to fix this, I think I just did the regular stuff (to no avail) but after a couple restarts it stopped. |

Ever tried running a VNC client and server on the same box? Now THAT'S a bucket and a half of fun.
I have a related screenshot of Classic getting hosed back during the PB where everything got this "hall of mirrors" effect. I'll see if I can dig it up when I get home later tonight. Update: The IT guy hit the reset switch on the motherboard and zapped the PRAM and everything is back to normal.
Glad he didn't reinstall like I advised him. |
