Hi Again,

I have always used adobe previously
but now that I have moved from windows to os x
then I am wondering
if aperture might be a better alternative for me.

I understand a version adobe CS3 will be written specifically for os x
and that this is not the case with CS2.
anyone know when CS3 is due?

I usually work on pdf's imported from CAD
and then shift between indesign and photoshop
doin a lot of cut and paste from bridge.
cutting up RAW photos and manipulting them.
I also use Lightroom as a library etc.

Is aperture suitable for this.
would anyone recommend it over adobe?

Aperture is not a full replacement of all Adobe apps. Instead it's a powerfull photo database with decent output and some (more common but powerful) editing capabilities. It's not unlike Lightroom, but it feels/is somewhat more powerful.

What you might be looking for are native intel versions of the adobe applications. Currently, the newest Macs are actually slower than their predecessors when running adobe software. This will likely change when adobe releases universal binaries of their apps.

Aperture manages your photos and does *minor* editing (think iPhoto on steroids). You still edit them in Photoshop.

CS3 is expected sometime in Q2 07
