I just clicked reload in Safari, and the top of the AN page just changed. Looks much better than the Tour de France icons and the yellow applenova that was there before.
And on a different note, it's good to see G5 air vent holes on the left, (at least that's what I think they are), instead of the US flag. No offense to the Americans reading this post. It's more Apple-like... :smokey: Also, what is the right-most circle a picture of — I can't make it out? m. Killing me isn't going to help you. It isn't going to do me much good either, is it? — The Doctor |

Yeah, now that the tour's over, it might be about time to pack up the themed logos up top.
By the way, that rightmost picture is a close-up of a biker's face, and you can see his sunglasses, forehead, and the edge of his helmet. |

Unfortunately, this is a side effect of LoCash making these changes in the external CSS file. Some browsers will only pick up changes if the end user forces a reload. Anyway, the "speed holes" have a tradition here (formerly at AppleInsider). We usually make the holes show something familiar but obscure enough to make visitors take a second look. The current set of speed holes includes the G5 Xserve, iPod, and internals of the G5 tower. The quality of this board depends on the quality of the posts. The only way to guarantee thoughtful, informative discussion is to write thoughtful, informative posts. AppleNova is not a real-time chat forum. You have time to compose messages and edit them before and after posting. |

The american flag in the background represented the country of origin of the current tour leader. Before Armstrong took the yellow from Voeckler, the background was a french flag.
We tend to change the masthead for special occasions, such as holidays and the tour de france. The holes at the top are from a closeup of an iSight, and not from a G5. The speedholes currently are of: xServe G5, iPod, G5 motherboard. It is with great regret that we say our farewells to Jack, who passed away on May 28th, 2005. Jack, you will be missed by all Superior thinking has always overwhelmed superior force. - Marine Corps Officers "You don't lead by hitting people over the head-that's assault, not leadership." - General Eisenhower |

It's spelled properly in the Queen's English; proper English.

FWIW, I love the standard look being back. So crisp, the white lettering of Aldono...Applenova. Gone are the weenie bikers and the Apple products are back in their circles and the iSight speed holes behind the logo (it's a fast camera, so it needs holes...that's the rule).
A MUCH nicer, cleaner look. It's Apple-y without laying it on too thick, to the point of copying. |

LoCash, you're from the US. And I believe if you're English, you would spell that "propour." And wouldn't it be "Moutherboaurd"?

Of course, none of this would be a problem if you Americans hadn't rebelled against your rightful monarch 230-odd years ago…

I'm glad that the AN staff have taken to themed tops, so far each variation has been classy and well done.
