Yup.
Third party access removal was intentional Not surprised that it was intentional. Pretty shitty that it was done with no communication at all. |

I just can't get used to the Twitter apps. They're ok for replying to messages and such, but the reading aspect and the algorithmic timeline are just awful in my experience.
No more Twitter. It's Mastodon now. |

Yep. Even the linear timeline (which they keep trying to make just subtly less convenient to get to) just isn't as good as Tweetbot's.

It's absolutely terrible. So ridiculous.

There are a lot of smaller third party apps that haven't had their access revoked yet, so it may just be targeted at the larger developers with Tweetbot and Twitterrific.
I had Aviary on my iPhone and that still works and isn't a bad app. Definitely a way to keep using Twitter without the official app though. No more Twitter. It's Mastodon now. |

I still have a subscription to Twitterrific that I'm keeping active as long as they allow it. Really hoping they come out with something for Mastodon, but it looks like they may be moving to something that includes a lot more based on ActivityPub
I've got Ivory for now and I will gladly pay a subscription there as soon as it is actually released. No more Twitter. It's Mastodon now. |

Played with Ivory for a few days but back on Toot! for now. It’s great to have so many choices.
Bummer the same can’t be said on macOS. |

How did you all go "shopping" for your Mastodon homebase?
yserver you begin with goes belly-up? Do you have to start all over again? Lost all your posts / history? Lots of questions along those lines. Yes, I guess I could google them ![]() ... |

I just went with mastodon.social since I signed up 4 years ago and that was what was the big thing. I think they may have shut down new sign ups now though. You can always move servers if the instance that you're on goes belly up, so that's not too big of a problem I guess.
Definitely lose your whole post history and following/followes from Twitter, but that's to be expected. I've been slowly building up a new set of people on Mastodon, but there are big organizations that have not made the move and don't look like they're going to unless Twitter shuts completely down. No more Twitter. It's Mastodon now. |

I was on mastodon.social for years, but got prodded by many to eventually move. There are instances that mute mastodon.social, such as because they consider it under-moderated.
I migrated to norden.social, which is local (northern Germany) and seems to be well-run. All followers were automatically migrated; confusingly, follows weren't. (Apparently, there's an export/import feature to work around that, but the UI didn't make this clear at all.) Posts aren't migrated, but still exist in dormant form on the old account. It's… less than ideal, but not too terrible. |
