Hey,
I'm not sure if this kind of post is allowed here, but nobody at my windows tech forum has any solutions. I installed the new version of Quicktime 7 (for Windows XP) from Apple's website so I could view some movies a friend of mine made on his powerbook featuring OS X's capabilities. When done I began surfing the web and realized that nothing else on the internet supported it for some reason. I then uninstalled it and installed 6.5 from the website. Now whenever I open firefox I get an error box which says I lack quicktime plug - extensions which can be found in quicktime version 5. It then redirects me to apple.com/quicktime if I click ok. What should I do? I have reinstalled both quicktime and firefox, but nothing seems to work. I did not delete any cache files in firefox for uninstalling / installing it though, so could that be the problem? Thank you, and again if this kind of post is not allowed then please delete it. |

I experienced this on my work PC. Firefox/QuickTime went goony. Nothing would work to get it back to normal. It's still that way because the giant brains in our IT department said that re-installing Windows might fix the problem. I'm not, nor should I have to, re-install Windows because a plug-in got borked.
So what I'm saying is, I can't help you. I guess just try deleting everything associated with Firefox and QuickTime and then try re-installing them. |

I fixed it. I reinstalled both firefox and quicktime and emptied firefox's cache and everything is working again. I liked the responses.
That was an amazingly dumb problem. Last edited by tomster2300 : 2005-08-12 at 15:15. |
