Guys. Remember those 3D models I showed you two months ago? They are for a live musical (called The War Of The Worlds) that will start playing in the Planetarium in Vanoucer end of THIS month.

Now the day is apporaching and I was kicking my butt to crank out as many background images as I can. Since the planetarium equips with panoramic projectors all backgrounds I create have to be wide to show the 360-degree (horizontal) and 90-deg (vertical) view.

Gotta tell you it's a real pain to do but I seem to be able to pull this off

Anyway, if you aren't in Vancouver here's your chance to see some of the pans here

Clouds in all these pans are hand painted from scratch

Very nice, Leonis. Always good to see an update from you.

Out of curiousity, what's the final pixel dimensions on one of these panoramas?

I started at 24000x2000 but it's really slooooowwwwwwwiinnnnnnng down my machine like hell.

Then I talked to the producer I had no choice but to lower the resolution. But even at 12000x1000 the quality is still pretty decent. And there's enough information for the image stretching apps to blow it up in size.

I'm always glad to see Pollux's incredible artistic talents go to good use.

I'm sure you can't get into the details, put did this job pay pretty well? Do you also have a steady "regular" job nowadays where you can apply your skills? The last one I remember was for CMT (I think), but that was a few years ago.

Leonis - great work. They look fantastic.

Echoing Brad and 709 - it is always good to see you posting an update here for us.

Bad luck about the crap pay scale, but I hope this work was gratifying at least.

The only panorama movies I made were QuickTime VR things in Bryce and Free Photo stitching software.

Great job with those images!
