The big-assed thing next to the Skyranch? That's it.

It's pretty much the culmination of a few different projects that I had in mind, but wrapped into a single massive project. At first I wanted to try my hand at building "Sue" - the T-Rex skeleton in Chicago - then after concluding I couldn't do her posture with MC blocks, I decided to just make a cool skeleton in my front lawn at FM. Then I said fuck it. I have too many other things do.

Then I really wanted to build something underwater. Not like my wheat farm which I love and adore, but something huge and overbearing. Something with water everywhere. Something you could actually drown in (MC oceans are pretty shallow, honestly). But I couldn't find a place close enough to BP for everyone to enjoy (and die in), so again, I said fuck it.

Then Kraetos mentioned his new project downtown, and how it would have all these floating spheres and whatnot, and I was like, holy shit, I know what I'm going to do next! A fracking planetarium! That would be so cool! But then I went to harvest the trees in my trashcan and it took so damn long and was boring and I was like fuck it.

But then, you know - after having all these things in the back of my mind for a while - you know what I said to myself?

That's right.

So I'd like to present my current work in progress, the AppleNova MC Museum Complex.

Earlier this month I completed some of the arches:

And last night I got a good portion of the roof and windows done:

The entrance is based off of the Field Museum in Chicago (or any other Federalist architecture - but specifically the FM) , but the structure itself is my design. I'm especially happy with the roof.

Even after the museum is "finished" expect some new exhibits to pop up now and then. But until then I'll use this thread to post updates instead of clogging the Announcement thread. Shooting for a Grand Opening around the beginning of November.

So it goes.

I *just* now saw that. Bastard. Nicely done though.

Mine are more of the fossilized type, so I think we're good.

*BUMP*

It lives! Brad was kind enough today to move my long-lost love over to Cactuar... I'M SO EXCITED!.

So I think I'm going to switch gears a little bit and work on Monster Island on Creative Days, this on the others. It's a legit build, but I think there's enough loot left in the chests on-site for me to put a dent in some of it quickly. At least some of the surrounding structure. Eventually I'll have to beg Brad for 13topia and the legit loot inside.... but this is awesome and I don't want to press my good luck.

Thanks again Brad! I'm so happy right now I could squee.

So it goes.

How did he manage to copy over without taking the subterranean bits with it?

I've made great progress, but I'm easing towards a standstill.

It's nice though! No?

Thanks guys.

I owe the exchange a single-chest of smooth stone, so I'm going to beg Brad for my home this weekend. I'm pretty much out of legit loot.

So it goes.

If you need more legit smooth stone, the chest in the corner of my fort by my sheep farm should have a few stacks. Some of the other things in that fort are not legit, but all the smooth stone is. I just sort of kept making it for the hell of it.

and i guess i've known it all along / the truth is, you have to be soft to be strong

Similarly the smooth stone in the chests on the lower level of my build site are 'legit' in the sense that you and I harvested it all with anger picks...

The smooth stone in my chests are legit from actually being dug. The tools with which they were dug weren't, but if you'd like it, I have plenty.

This museum is a piece of art! I took a tour of it over creative day because I could compass teleport to the top quick and have a look around. Unfortunately, I got a little crazy with the compass and somehow ended up way the heck out in the snowy mountains and decided to build a house because my tired brain thought that would be a good idea o_O (whoops...) BUT that's a different story. Anyways, looking great. We definitely have some talented people on our server! ^_^

Thanks Sonic.

It'll be a month, likely 2 before I'm finished with the structure and the exhibits, but I'm really happy with it so far. You weren't around for the BP days, but I think this new location is even better than the old (except for being close to the BP mob trap, which was, in a word, epic - and not internet epic, actually epic).

Obviously, there's still tons to do, but it's only here in Cactuar by the grace of Brad. I would've never ever rebuilt what I'd done in BP into our new home.... honestly, the constant moves over the course of the last 6 months left me a little deflated and found me giving MC the side-eye. Thankfully, my enthusiasm has been restored a bit with the introduction of a lot of well-loved buildings from previous worlds being transplanted to Cactuar.

After I'm finished with the museum - and I finish Monster Island as well - I have an idea for something big.

So it goes.

Small update: The floor and balconies are done!

That announcement may not seem like much, but the floor is sandstone. And holy shit was that a workout to get that much.

So it goes.

I know, right? Just finished the floor of my museum too. I had to type "/more" so many times.

I think he's talking about MoBA — the Museum of Blocky Art.

I resisted his /more goad, but I think it deserves at the very least a return .

So I was able to put some of my massive stone pile to good use this weekend and cranked out the outer shell of the Planetarium:

Still a ways to go, obviously, but now that all of the Museum Complex structures are in place I have a real desire to burn some midnight oil and get to exhibit building time.

Also, I'm leveling out some of the hill to the East, Robo. It won't affect future Hogwarts, but just a fyi:

It's for a few things to be placed/built in the future. Yay science!

So it goes.
