Well, last night was a major success!
The convention has grown and we've really classed up the event (I won a Lifetime Achievement Award!!!!) There's some sort of actor/theatre thing called SETC that sort of crashed our convention, but in the end things worked out great. We even shared our Gala Awards Banquet with them, as can be seen in the following photographs: Packed House! CC2011 Lifetime Achievement Award CC2011 Gala Banquet Audience Celebration! I have more photos and some videos I'll post later, when I have time to edit them for time. ... |

Drew,
looks like you did a job there! If you don't mind indulging my curiosity... what happens if someone shows up with wooden crate & hay? |

That is beautiful. What the hell were those people doing there at your event anyway? Nothing worse than a bunch of rich, country clubbin' party crashers! You're a real gentleman to humor their presence. ...into the light of a dark black night. |

I just noticed the slave Leia outfit in that fourth pic above.
What in the world were those other people thinking? That lady in the black and white jacket looks like she just chugged a pint of 90-proof WTF?! Did you all scare these people? Was it like that dinner scene in Caddyshack, with you guys busting up the joint and causing a ruckus? "Last time I saw a mouth like that, it had a hook in it!" |

"Hey lady... nice jacket! Did you get a free wine cooler with that?! Oh but it looks good on you, though!"

LOL, that audience was the Southeastern Theatre Conference, which collided with Cardboard*Con's schedule. I suppose that they might have mistaken us for some of their own, especially during the presentation of my Lifetime Achievement award!!

Were you working it, and being all theatrical?
Something tells me yes. |

The photoset includes another less-cardboard-more-skin slave leia.
...as well as Hulk and Thing which, while cardboard, appear to be pre-printed... are they viewed as 'violating the spirit of improvised cardboard art', or are they lauded for technological design prowess? Splittists! Nice work skimming off the babes from another conference, though. Wacky black jacket lady and all. All those who believe in telekinesis, raise my hand. |

Nice theme but my initial impression is the header graphic should display the hottest woman at the con with mammary-sized holes cut into her cardboard torso. Get a little creative already... don't be such a linear thinker, man!

BUMP ^^
Okay you idiots, you have about 2 weeks to get your suits made and get to Atlanta for CC4. They still haven't unveiled this year's badge badj, but it's coming. More importantly, the 2013 guests haven't been announced yet. I know people on the selection committee, so if you have any suggestions let me know and I'll pass it along! ALSO The sad fools behind Cardboard*Con have been mocked on Reddit. ... |

This is a link to the IMGUR gallery for 2014, where a lot of photos will go.... You're all of course invited and will be able to get in for FREE this year if you come (password is 'applenova'). We are now accepting badj sales over the phone!! Here's the VIDEO that explains it all: See you there?? Bye bye!!!! ... Last edited by drewprops : 2014-02-04 at 18:12. |

Drew you have some serious competition on this day, but I believe you can be victorious (this coming from a long-time hosket fan).
The weather in Chicago is your ally. Rain on March 1 a distinct possibility from year to year. Although this year it may be 15 degrees with 3 feet of snow on the ground the way things are going. Recapturing the ratings will be a challenge but [not even vulcanized rubber beats cardboard]. ...into the light of a dark black night. Last edited by Moogs : 2014-02-07 at 11:25. |

Okay, today I was a guest speaker at a convention over in Alabama and the topic was of course cardboard costuming.
After our panel we hung around awhile but I was hungry so I suggested to my friend who rode over with me that we drive into the little nearby town so we could eat lunch. He agreed and about 15 minutes later we were driving into the town and the houses were decked out in bunting and American flags and suddenly we realized that the main street ahead of us was blocked off... they were having a big festival for Independence Day. So we parked and went to explore the long main street, full of tents. When we got to the far end we stopped because there was a fire truck way on down the road, lights a-flashing. We also both heard somebody say something about a parade. We stepped off the road to wait for the parade but immediately began debating about whether we should join the parade in cardboard. One app-based coin toss later and were off to the car to grab our costumes. We trucked it back up toward the head of the route, passing cars full of beauty queens and politicians, marching bands and tractors... we made it nearly to the end and realized that we'd best get into our gear quickly, and we did, in record time, just in time to hop in front of the police car that was pulling up the end of the route. Walking behind the town's fire engine we waved and waved and waved... People were excited to see us and they snapped pictures and asked "What ARE y'all supposed to be???!!" We waved and waved and waved. It was so good. I can now mark crashing an Americana-filled smalltown parade off my bucket list. ... |

People will talk about/remember that more than the usual, expected stuff. Years from now, out of the blue, someone will be talking to their spouse or buddy...do you remember a few years ago, those people in cardboard in that parade? What the hell was that all about?!" That's legend status. |
