Agree with the Blu-Ray. Actually, I think they will go with HD-DVD.

They might change the name from PowerMac at some point as well.

How do you figure they will go with HD DVD, when Apple is a member of the Blu-Ray Disc Association, and not a member of the HD DVD Promotion Group?

Because I thought if I said it will now, then I will look good if it turns out true.

Well it couldn't hurt but until the storage format battle clams down I think Apple should offer a hybrid drive if any. Like this one from Pioneer http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/01/p...e-the-bdr-103/

Bingo. Hybrid-HD optical drives are totally Apple. Most people have no idea what the differences between Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, and even good ol' DVD are. (A lot of people think that DVD's are high-definition!) Apple does not want to dump their customers into that mess. Macs will just play all HD formats. Done and done.

Apple could have dropped a Blu-Ray option with the Octopro if they we're going to go Blu-Ray. The wait makes me think they'll go Hybrid.

Logic, logic, logic. Logic is the beginning of wisdom, Valeris, not the end.

I could believe that, but not that they'll put in an HD DVD-only drive. They'll either use a hybrid drive or a Blu-Ray drive. Someday. Eventually.

Right, I can see it now, "oh one last thing, Geforce 8800 GT in every Mac Pro."
