Interesting and well-composed photo Dorian. It evokes one of the great mysteries and sadnesses of modern life: the single sock that comes back out of the laundry. And no it does not look or feel too dark - at least not the way that it displays on my MBP monitor. That said, my screen's brightness settings are high (maybe too high, sometimes leading to my own photos processed on the MBP looking a bit dark on other monitors or when printed; I should make some adjustments for that: one of the frustrations of digital photography is that it is so 'monitor dependent').

And yes, I do like the Evan's dog photo. Nicely composed and very well processed.

This is Biscuit. Biscuit would rather play than sit still (note the tail whipping about).

Good to see this thread bumped. I totally forgot to post my last b&w picture.

This is a similar shot to the one I posted in the February contest, but it is a different shot.

Super moon: Today the Moon passes by Earth at a distance of 356,577 kilometers (221,567 miles) – the closest pass in 18 years.

Nice shot, with the 400mm? I'll try tonight, but there is mixed cloud cover, so it could be tough.

The ruins of a more than 1000 year old church (a few miles away from our town):

Very nice. Reminds me of this guy named Ansel or something like that.

You did a great job with this one IMO and the sky I think makes it. Clear skies would just not be the same.

I was about to ride my bike just as a workout. When I saw these clouds, I grabbed my camera rucksack and cycled to some landmarks (the GDR watchtower and this church) instead.

I once visited the ruins of another monastery on a day without clouds, so for one shot, I added the sky from another shot, but on this occasion, this wasn't necessary..

I love that photo of the church ruins.

On a completely different theme, nieces:

Cool. I like the tones in that one. I quite like black and white in general and I am thinking of taking more of my photos with black and white processing in mind. I may try Silver Efex as well. I downloaded the trial version some time ago and was pleased with it, but did not go on and make the fairly steep investment to buy it once the trial expired.

B&W is the way to go for some subjects, and I like it as well. Last year I did a week of black and white shooting only, in camera, and I think I might do it again soon. The last photo was made in camera from the GF2.

Bicycle in the fountain in the Schlossplatz in Stuttgart.

What it was doing there, I am not sure. The Schlossplatz seemed very well kept to me - not a lot of garbage around - and the bicycle did not seem like a piece of garbage in any event. I suspect it may have something to do with a Stuttgart 21 protest.

Chinney's photo of the submerged bicycle is a spectacular application of black-and-white photography, but I've enjoyed lots of shots in this thread, even though I don't participate much.

Here's one I thought might work in black and white, though mostly just because it says "BLACK" on the brush!

Thanks for the appreciation PB & Dorian. I do love B&W, and will likely be posting more here. I like the tones on the legs especially on your shot Dorian.
