OK:

Airport Extreme Base Station -> Connected to three computers:

iMac G5 wireless - works great
PowerMac G4 wired - works great
PowerMac G5 - works like crap

With the third, the PMac G5, the Airport signal is insane. Some days it is fine, the next it asks for the password - which I enter correctly, though it suggests their is still a problem connecting. Then 20 minutes later it is ok for a bit, and then it goes out again. Erratic at best.

It is the furthest from the Base Station, but has routinely had 3 bars. However, sometimes it just doesn't recognize it. And, sometimes the network doesn't shot up at all. It used to just automatically connect to it upon start up (it still does on the iMac), but now I have to manually select it each time.

I have restarted the Base Station, redone all the parameters, countless times. And, it works for a bit and then hits the wall again. Do I need to get my Base Station some Xanax? Is it the Base or the PMac?

-Connecting with DHCP. And, just the basic settings.
--Is there a way to make a more concrete wired network? I see sometimes as many as 4-5 other wireless networks show up.
---I am an idiot... so thanks in advance to my ignorance.

I'm not an expert in this area, but have you pulled out the little antennae from the back of the G5?

Download iStumblerand check to see what channels the other networks are using. Change yours to either 11, 6, or 1... whichever has the network with the lowest signal at that frequency.

That will help with the interference. What kind of encryption do you have on the base station? All of your devices are Airport Extreme (g), so you shouldn't be having any "b" compatibility issues... You may want to switch the network over to "g-only" rather then mixed and see if that helps.

WPA Personal. Should I change that? But, then looking at iStumbler it says WEP.

I downloaded iStumbler and it shows: 7 networks.
My network is on CH. 1. My signal is the highest at 47, is lower better?
What does samples mean?

Much thanks!

what does it say with regard to Channels for the other networks? That is what causes interference.
WPA personal should be just dandy...
Do all of the computers have the latest OS updates?
