LAST CALL for anything fun/personal/interesting/etc. you want copied over from previous worlds. Anyone note the coordinates of the mushroom islands so we can put a portal out to it?

I logged in successfully AFTER dying in the TARDIS world and losing my inventory there, but that's okay because it was bullshit screw-around inventory.
Seems to work. ... |

709, the only player I know who can personally pull a full +2Mb/s from the game server. What are you doing man? I got into my router to take a look at things and had to figure out what this odd traffic level was. MC server never sees that much so I figured it might be an attack. From one IP. 709's.

Brad, can we get an update on the texture pack in the main game thread? Might want to also update it to say we are running 1.8.1 now too.

I'm about to pick out the files to keep/delete for pruning the world. Based on 709 and turtle's earlier conversation, it looks like all the chunks in red are safe to wipe, yes?

OK! Then tomorrow night I'll prune the world as defined above and turtle will rerun his map tool from a clean slate.

I finished up the Nether path out to the Mooshroom Isles last night and figured I'd post a couple pics. The path branches off from the SouthEast Portal and heads south, jogs east to meet a Fortress then heads south a bit more to the Isle Portal. Basically, follow the stone-slab path:
The Fortress path is mostly protected, but there are still open archways where the arms jut off. So, be mindful of baddies. Where the path jogs south again I've put in a portal that leads to a very large Extreme Hills+ area. I figured after the wipe we might use that area as a place to mine? Andesite/Diorite/Granite deposits are ridiculously prevalent and quite large, so they leave quite the land-scar. Also, I put up a temporary pile of the new goodies at Trader Steve's, just in case, you know, people want to see them in-game or whatever. Finally, check THIS out! I was testing out my fancy new Water Strider boots and stumbled across these guys right in the north bay between Drew and Mario (inset). They respawn too, so they're here to stay. Grab some armor and a Looting sword and get shards! A fun way to make some Prismarine blocks while waiting for the grinder to be built. They are nasty though, so I recommend Depth Strider boots to haul-ass away from them when they gang up on you. So it goes. Last edited by 709 : 2014-12-12 at 15:04. |

Funny. I thought those turds were biome specific (ocean monument). We best be watching ourselves in the depths.
Edit: Maybe a monument would normally have spawned there? The update brought in the "biome" without the monument? - AppleNova is the best Mac-users forum on the internet. That's what I think happened. I did a difference matte of the two world maps and that's one of 3 places that has a large body of water in both worlds.
[edit: here it is quick-n-dirty if you're interested] So it goes. Last edited by 709 : 2014-12-12 at 16:40. |

Grey mentioned this in-game, and I thought I would toss it up on the boards:
We all need to carry beds with us, again. /afk is gone, too, and getting stuck out in the boonies is, once again, a very nasty reality. So, if you're on, please have a bed in your inventory so we can sleep the night away. - AppleNova is the best Mac-users forum on the internet. We are smart, educated, capable, and helpful. I think there's a problem with the world trim. All the ores and ites and whatnot are fine and good, but when I went out to mark the spots of my NE monuments, they were non-existant, only the death-fish were there to mark the spot(s). They were well into the red "wipe zone" too, so, wtf.
Can anyone else that knows monument coords verify this? That would be super helpful. I'd just put in a mining hut + beacon at the Hills area, but if this means a re-wipe I can let it all go. So it goes. Last edited by 709 : 2014-12-13 at 13:45. |

I'm going to guess that it isn't a biome specific thing for monuments but rather like villages or other random location items. Though do villages always re-spawn in the same location? IWO, maybe we have to find new ones again. Just guessing, I have no idea. I still haven't seen one in game yet. I don't have good enough enchantments on my armor.

I may have found the cause, but it will require me to trim the newly generated chunks again. Any objections?
Specifically, Minecraft now writes data about monuments, villages, strongholds, etc. to separate files. We have a Monuments.dat file that describes 18 locations, but I'm guessing those were generated when people were exploring *before* the trim. Now the game thinks they already exist because they're in that file, and the server is not attempting to generate their structures. The quality of this board depends on the quality of the posts.
