I've been watching tons of Conquer the Map Minecraft videos in my spare moments, just had no time to actually PLAY the game.
Logged in for about 10 minutes the other night to screw around in my house, but that's all. Am enjoying reading Wyatt's new adventures ... |

I've found a couple spots that I'd like to claim.
1) A spot for a house, around 210/65/478. It's a bit behind the lodge and the horse/pig/sheep "barn" structure. I've put a sign and some torches there to mark it off. 2) A mining operation, just on the other side of the same ridge. I've placed a sign and torches at 250/65/505 to mark it off. I'd like to also build a path between the two sites. I'll cut a clearing through the forest there to make room for the path. At some point, I'd also like to build a minecart and track to ship mined materials from that operation back into a chest in the house, but I suspect that will take me quite a while to do. Any objections to me claiming these two spots? I didn't want to start building anything until I ran it by you guys. |

I can't speak toward the locations, but maybe you'll get lucky and find an abandoned mineshaft down below - a good source of rails for your minecart line!

I hope so! I've never found one of those, so that would be amazing. I've worked out a pretty good approach to mining on my private server, but finding something like that would really help.

I put a few shots in my Dropbox. Hopefully these help. If not, let me know and I can take more tonight.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/6belchrv0...2uwOdqMRa?dl=0 [UPDATE] I just remembered the map exists, so I took a screenshot of the map as well. The house area is marked off in red and the mine entrance is marked in yellow. It's the first image at the link above. Last edited by Wyatt : 2015-05-18 at 13:19. |

I think the only thing close is turtle's underground tunnel between his beach house and turtle heights, so if you stay east of the 'barn' thingy you should be fine.
So it goes. |

Cool, thanks for the input guys. If nobody else speaks up, I might log in and do some building and digging tonight.

There are two sand mines. In the Nether, take the W passage to the intersection (this one is unprotected). Grey has a monster sandmine I think at the NE passage (or out that way). I believe he has signs posted. (Update: Never mind. See Grey's directions (below) to his mine.)
If you're unfamiliar with the Nether hub, go to the Space Needle and go down to the Nether Portal. I would suggest exploring the hub as it is the transportation system to the outlying areas, including the sand mines. The hub expands out N, S, E, and W with portals at the 8 major compass points which got to most of the mines, traps and flower farms. Each intersection also houses a ladder down to virgin nether. (If you want to hunt the Nether, please do so away from the hub. We decided to maintain the pristine visual appearance of the nether inside the hub, so please don't mine any resources in there.) Both sand mines can be mined until you're sick of it, so knock yourself out. Also, if you haven't seen it, yet, there is a map of our world to reference. - AppleNova is the best Mac-users forum on the internet. We are smart, educated, capable, and helpful. Yeah, the Nether path to the far-east sand mine isn't a direct path off of our established system. Here's the directions to get there.
Anything out there is fair game (except what others might leave in the chests, of course) since we'll likely trim it come 1.9. So it goes. |

Yeah, your place is near my ranch and stuff. Please feel free to slaughter some of the cows and pigs as needed. You can also shear the sheep if you'd like. I leave food in the chests at their gates so you can make them mate to replace the one's you kill. I also have two chests at the lower entrance to my beach house that you can take most any food you may want too.

You have a cake! Seems like a worthy welcome gift. Don't forget to claim a box at the Post Office in town. People can send you gifts and such there too.

Yeah, I need to go back and explore the town a little more. I got a little deep in the weeds on mining the last few days. Got a buttload of redstone dust and a decent number of diamonds. I also managed to get lost in the caverns underneath my mining claim a few times and cost myself a lot of time trying to find my way back to my house.

T's post above reminded me that I should put a thread together about community resources. There are so many.
Not to interrupt what Wyatt's doing, because he's doing it the right way, no question. More just a map of 'you can get this here' type stuff. So it goes. |

Yeah, a thread like that would be awesome. Sort of a companion to the map & community guidelines.
Also, I'm totally building a new house on top of my mine. Gotta do something with all that stone, you know? |

I do have some pretty fancy duds. That's true.
Seriously though, I did fuck up my game mantra with the opening of the 'Mart. Instead of just building and mining as I should have I fell into the trap of selling off stuff just so I could buy other stuff to make my storage unit symmetrical and clean and the best it could be. It became somewhat of an obsession. But that's just like me to do and I should've predicted it. I swear, I'll put it in my will that if I should die falling off Gojira and at the same time die IRL (that's the way it happens, I've heard) the arrangements are to give all my MCraftly-possesssions to…..Brad. With implicit instructions to blow the hell out of 13topia and leave it a smoldering crater. It would be embarrassing for y'all to find my Testififuck torture-porn dungeon. So it goes. |

This is interesting: cacti and cactuses are equally acceptable as the plural form.
I'm putting in a cacti farm underneath the treefarm. Because community cactuses. And green dye. Last edited by 709 : 2015-06-14 at 12:44. |

Which tree farm? The one near the cove or your transplanted one?

The transplanted one near the Exchange. I'll update the resource thread once it's done.

Cool, I'm looking forward to seeing your design in it. I had the big house in Bridgeport that was a Cactus farm a while back. Now a few smaller versions now that hoppers can keep the drops from disappearing.

I was over at the Amusement Park and it occurred to me that I have a couple of things in the world unfinished.
So, this is me actually asking for an intervention of sorts. Before I can make a claim for new land I need to: 1) Finish the Amusement Park. 2) Finish Gojira and Mothra. 3) Finish the exterior* of the Museum Complex. The only other claim I want to hold on to is Bobsky's Brewery. * the interior is still being worked out. I can't commit to that yet. So, don't allow me any more requests until I'm finished, or at least finished enough to breathe. So it goes. |
