I've had my G5 for 2 months now and never have worked in OS X before. I made the mistake of installing Windows Media Player so I could play WMV files, but now all of my browsers are looking for it as the default player for EVERYTHING and ignoring quicktime. I tried to install realplayer but my browsers are ignoring it and pointing me towards WMP.

I hate WMP! Does anyone know I get rid of it and restore my default browser settings?

Thanks.

Uninstalling Apps on Mac OS X

That same simple procedure works for WMP.

Oh, and there's a plugin that WMP installs in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins that you can trash too.

Until WMV9 is available in VLC, it'll still be a necessity for some users.

Yes, lot's of media / news websites (and academic sites too come to think of it) seem to offer WMP and Real only, rather than QT.

In my experience the present version of Real is pretty okay, compared to WMP at least.

Yeah, RealPlayer isn't bad at all on Mac OS X. It's actually a pretty good application.
