The problem with designers (which I am one) is that we all have an overinflated sense of our own talent! Sure the bosses and commitees are usually going to side with the safest solutions, but take my advice: open your eyes, and your mind and listen to what others think and say. The world and the other people in it (designers and non-designers alike) is full of valid experiences and viewpoints. Absorb. Assimilate. Repurpose. It's all about communication, not what typeface you use or how large the point size. In my experience as Creative Director I almost ALWAYS had to reign in over-eager designers who wish to make every project look like the last great piece in the history of GD!
