im trying to put a movie file onto dvd via toast 6 titanium. i opened up toast, went to movies, ntsc, ect and then i clicked burn and its encoding right now, its been going since like 6-7 pm yesterday and its like 75% done. there has to be a faster way or am i wrong? is this how long its gonna take me each time to make a dvd?

Yes.

Encoding an .avi (assumed that is your format) takes a long time and is very processor hungry.

Well I think just mpeg2 encoding in general is pretty a pretty intensive task for a processor. Not sure if it's actually because it's an avi or not.

I have found that MPEG2 Works 4 encoding is faster than Toast and the resulting files take up far less space.
