Hey,
I can't seem to get the AppleNova 2.8.3 update to work. The installer balks about halfway through the upgrade and I get a message that "This Will Never Work". I reset the pointers but that did nothing. What am I doing wrong? Do I have to have PHP5?

Cause I do.
And stuff.

Try omitting the --carol-mode option.

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

Set "Channel Farenheit" to off. It should clear right up.

Run a ldd, and make sure you have emac 19.2.10.1 installed. Anything else, you will have problems, even vi.

*Sigh*

We need the make/model of your machine, what OS you're running etc.

Have you installed APE in the past? That always screws stuff up.

Repair your permissions and empty your cache files, that's the other common culprit.

If all of that doesn't work, set boobies=true and try again.

Google is your frenemy.

Alright guys, this isn't funny anymore.

2.8.3 uses .NET, you're going to have to go Windows.

I think I'll wait for v 2.8.4. I've heard it's going to be more stable.

You're a moron. 1.9.12 was most stable version ever until they upset the apple cart with all those useless eye candies.

Five decimals aren't exactly my idea of rounded. How about version 22/7 ?

Here, let me save you the time. It's better because it was more simple, minimalistic. 2.x added all those features just because they were popular with script kiddies who didn't have the faintest idea what in the hell they were doing except that they could copy each other very well. I'd bet they never even cracked a line of original code. 1.9.12 did exactly what you wanted, no more, no less. With 2.x, it's always *something* else!

Only if they strip off the trainwreck that is 2.x.

But 2.8.4 is web 2.1 and IP v6 (or something like that) compliant. Once that gets implemented all previous versions will suffer from reduced functionality and version 1.9.12 is expected to default into an infinite loop of dancing hamster gifs.

It's very obvious that you haven't had the foggiest notion of software development.

They can promise the pies in sky but when it comes to nitty-gritty, they fall woefully short. You are SO going to be disappointed when they announce that they've dropped the support for web 2.1 and IPv6 because nobody bothered to implement them anyway!

All I see with the new mod is tabbed browsing. Do we really need each forum to pop up in a tab?

You know, some of us have been using Camino before you grunts deemed it 'acceptable'.

So it goes.

Well, Murbot sent me a patch for 2.8.3 and I thought it was running okay but for some reason MY .htaccess file keeps getting overwritten with "brrbrrbrrbrrbrrbrrbrr..." (on and on).

this sucks.

This place used to be pretty good.
Nobody cares anymore and APPARENTLY the mods can't get their shit together to put out an intervace that ANYBODY CAN USE EVEN ON WINDOWS!@!!!

GAHHHHHHHHHHHh!

I am seriously pissed because none of the apps that I PAID FOR ARE WORKING!!!!

WTF??

This is clearly a failure in leadership.

It's not even secure!
This Web 2-point-WOAH website is vulnerable to INJECTION!

Try changing this:

Code:
http://forums.applenova.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9
to this:

Code:
http://forums.applenova.com/forumdisplay.php?f=dingo
WTF???
Is that safe???

Listen Braddy-o and Pals.
You better get this shit up to snuff or we're going to put the word out about this whole AppleNova.

Just Damn.

Well, Brad recently wrote a net networking stack for Applenove. It utilizes modern protocols, supporting ipv6. I guess Murbot wrote a patch file that really screws with things. Unfortunately Drew installed it without realizing. Poor guy, I hope he figures it out soon so he can continue with the poo log.
