Does anyone have any experience/advice in regards to photoshop for mac? I have seen both the photoshop 7 for osX and also photoshop CS2 for mac. Is there much of a difference? If so, which is better? Right now my main uses would be superimposing photos, erasing backgrounds, etc

I'd pick up a cheap Photoshop 7 copy.
There are differrences between 7 and CS2. There are more tools in CS, much better 16-bit support, and camera RAW support. On the downside, it is not a "revolutionary" advance in my opinion and it requires activation. The installation is tied to one specific computer. If you own multiple computers, you have to de-authorize one copy and then authorize the other computer. Photoshop 7 also works in both OSX and OS 9. If you need it. |

Plus, the CS versions have that stupid banknote-detection code that makes it difficult to legitimately alter images of dollar bills.

Photoshop 7 would work fine for what you want to use it for.
