So there I am the other night, answering emails in Outlook, when I happen to look under the "Window" option in the menu bar.

I see something that says "Move to Doodlepad" so I select it.

Did I mention that I was sleepy?

Nothing much happened.

Hours later I reach over to my iPad and there's an email window on the screen.

Somehow, my iPad has become a second monitor out of Microsoft Outlook.

I have NOT had the time to explore this further, but I though there was some kind of thing called "sidecar" by Apple.

The results of googling the word Doodlepad are confusing at this time of night (when I am once again tired).

Do you know what this is all about?

My guess was that it's a Microsoft version of a third party app, but I see the option in TextEdit as well.

Also in Nova, from Panic.

I do NOT see it in the Adobe apps.

So now I assume that Doodlepad is a Mac-centric thing that developers can write for, but I do NOT see anything ABOUT it when I google for Mac and Doodlepad.

What gives????

Edit: I now see that "move to DoodlePad" is an option from the red/yellow/green window controls, and is available to other apps.

Um, are you sure it isn’t that you named your iPad Doodlepad?

God. This really is embarrassing. Like, an old man moment.

If it makes you feel any better, I was in minor freak-out mode last week, excitedly (and with full-on exasperation) asking everyone in ear shot where my beloved Dr. Pepper ball cap was, and wondering why everyone was being an unhelpful clown, just smiling and saying nothing.

Yes, it was on my damn HEAD the entire time, and everyone just felt too bad for me to point it out, I guess.

It's like when you look for your keys, while they are in your hand.

And you've named them "Doodlepad".

About once a week these days. Before I ask/say anything or involve others, I stop and make sure whatever I’m looking for isn’t already being worn/held by me.

It’s sad/freaky just how many times it is. Hat on head, keys on belt, pencil behind ear, etc.

That’s why I have a spot where I put things, all the time without fail. Diagnosed short term memory problems force you to be a real stickler in some areas.

Yep. My desk is in my living room, just 3-4 feet from the front door. My keys, wallet, hat, iPhone, loose change, Leatherman multi-tool, guitar picks, etc. all kinda gather/congregate there, so I can blatantly see them and take what I want/need at any given time. When I come back home, they all go back there (my wallet and keys go in my nightstand at night, in the bedroom, so they're not just sitting out in the open all night).

But I have little routines where certain things "live" and always go back to. If I didn't do that, I'd be a lot worse off. Haha.

I've done this with my glasses at least two times in recent years on days when I was really exhausted. One time I was searching the house in a mild panic only to realize they were on top of my head, but even worse, once they right there on my face in front of my eyes.

Suddenly I don't feel so bad about my hat.
