This is gonna sound really weird, but I really need to find this "video" or whatever it is.

When I was really little I used to watch this demo thing on my dad's Performa, called "Welcome sequence".
I was obbsessed with it. I would watch it over and over and over again. It was like a game to me, since I wasn't allowed to play computer games.
It starts out with this funny bouncy music, and it says "Welcome to macintosh performa"...
Then this guy comes walking on the screen, and a light bulb appears above his head (he has an idea).
Then I don't remember the rest of it, but at the end he has like a network hooked up, and he's all happy.
It's all drawings, it's not real people they filmed or anything.
Does anyone know what this is, what it was for, or where it can be found?

Thanks

And yet another piece of the puzzle falls in to place.

As far as the video, I doubt you'll find it online. It's probably something you'll have to dig out of the attic yourself.

Do you guys know what it is? All I knew when I was little is I liked watching it, but I didn't know what it was.

... alright that's it, I'm puttin' money on this being torifile doing research of sorts ... shades of 68K if you ask me.

Sure, you may scoff now, but how else can you account for tori's lack of posts recently in comparison to the geek?

Thanks. But does anyone have any idea what i'm talking about? Do you remember the video yourself? Do you know it existed, and are you sure you're thinking of the right one?

It sounds like an animated version of "Macintosh Basics"

(just beyond Hypercard... click the link for info, or the pic for sample screens).

There have been some machine-specific OBE (Out of the Box Experience) demos...
I remember some from SGI as well, for the Indy and Indigo... and OS X has had a few with all the foreign welcome text flying around or spotlighted.

Finding those might be a matter of getting the google keywords right.

YMMV
