Worth the risk? Been reading a lot about people getting them very easily on the internet, what do ya'll think? This will probably spur into one of those Drinking Age discussions as well.

How much do they typically go for? That would make or break it for me...

But of course, I just turned twenty one two days ago, so I won't be getting one any time soon.

I'm told they get pretty expensive, upwards of 100$ usually. As with all these things, they can charge as much as they want.

I've been using a fake ID for the past two years now...

It cost me nothing. It's just my best-friend's older brother's best-friend's expired driver's license.

It has yet to fail me, and that's really impressive considering that it expired in '02, does not look a thing like me, and is cracked nearly in half.

I've always looked older for my age, so about 50% of the time I don't even get carded.

Then again, here in Ontario you only need to be 19 to drink, and at that age it is truly hard to tell someone's age just based on appearance.

...

Anyway, I don't think $100 is worth it. . . just too much money.
Find an older friend that looks like you, and borrow his ID from time to time, or just get an expired one off an of age friend and pass it off as your own.

no sig, how's that for being a rebel!

Ahh well yes, I have no problems in Ontario, I didn't get carded there. I've thought about your suggestion already, but I don't have anyone who looks like me.

how about just act your age? May seem corny, but you're only 18 once, why would anyone want to grow up fast. I never really got it. Enjoy the benefits of being young and you'll have no regrets when you're enjoying the benefits of being older.

I think it's easier just to get a friend to buy it for you. I have a guy, I slip him an extra 5 bucks and get whatever I want. It's not that expensive because he goes down to a BJ's in VA for his liquor runs (liquor in bulk, hell yea), but storing that much alcohol in my dorm room... well we tear thru it pretty quickly

How bout because I was acting 18 when I was 16. And its easier said than done in college. See, 18 is a pretty bogus age, I don't smoke, and nothing good comes with this age other than that.

That is somewhat beside the point, as I do not disagree, shot-gunning beers in you dorm room is a great idea. However, it all lies within not being allowed to go to bars, the money isn't really an issue, being able to experience that enviornment with my friends before we all get over it is. Or else I'll just be drinking alone in bars 3 years from now.

Hey Shoe, what state do you live in? I know in MD you pay a $1500 fine if your caught with a fake id.

As for drivers licence numbers, this site just scared the crap out of me because it correctly generated my DL number. At least the new Maryland licenses are harder to fake (Not even a magnetic strip on the back anymore!)...

Depends on who you want to pretend to be, as well as how old you're claiming to be...

"You're Kurt Vonnegut? Man, I thought you were dead/old... nice books"

But by far the best response to any request for ID is the jedi mind trick.

"you don't need to see his identification...
these aren't the droids you're looking for...
he can go about his business...
move along."

Worked for me once.

I've been asked my by two people about getting a fake id for $100. I'm thinking about it, the one is maryland or new jersey, and the magnetic strip on it is supposed to actually work, so that might be worth it.

It's not necessarily about going to get alcohol from the liquor store (PA, state run stores), but perhaps get into a club or bar.

Not only that, some schools take it very seriously as well... At BC whenever the cops are given something that is lost (wallet, jacket, etc.) they have to completely inventory it. If they find a fake, they WILL write them up and prosecute. It is considered a felony in some areas.

Well at Marquette we have Public Saftety, they are basically around to keep our drinking under wraps, and make sure we don't make the papers, like University Wisconsin Madison does all the time.

I agree, exactly because I can get liquor from my parents, its really more about getting into the scene all my friends are into, and that I'm missing out on.

Well, the Boston College Police Department is a REAL PD, so they can't sweep stuff under the rug.

I made my own fake ID when I was underage. It was mighty simple to 'fix' the old Ontario Drivers License. It only failed once and that was because the bouncer had one of the fancy light for spotting fake ID. I'd say you just get someone's expired license, it doesn't need to look like you just has to say you're over 21.

Well, its better then having the BPD/NPD (boston, newton) on campus--at least it is kept in-house. They are pretty lax about some things... but they don't tolerate fake IDs.

A lot of the strictness is because of the sports program-it is a condition for having the stadium in Newton/Boston and the crazy tailgating that goes on at football games... Alumni Stadium and Conte Forum are both DRY arenas, so all the drinking goes on outside. BCPD isn't that bad with regard checking ID's for public drinking during events-you just can't be stupid about it. Anything that goes on in the dorms is the RHA's "turf" and they only call the "cops" when medical assistance is needed. They do ask where the booze comes from, and unless you have a good excuse to have it (parents, sibling) and it isn't excessive, they won't attempt to punish them. Fakes on the other hand get fwd'ed to the PD... But basically, if you have enough common sense, you can "get away" with having and using fakes for bars and clubs--but if it ever gets confiscated, there is a solid possibility that the card will eventually be traced back to you by the BPD & BCPD...

Sounds about right. . . hehe... (*notes my post above*)

Besides, once you have maked out your watering hole. . . you really don't need it anymore. There's nothing like planting yourself on a bar stool... flirting with the fine 20-something bartender and watching as people who look far older then you get turned down because they 'forgot' their ID. They just look in your direction... pissed that you look younger and did not get carded.

Move to Australia, legal drinking at 18

Of course, I assume that there are bars/clubs in the States that, like here, aren't strict about ID.

And plus if you don't have a "fake" (borrow a real one...) there is a much lower chance you will get yourself in trouble.

This is true, when talking about the fake, I would imagine getting one that will actually swipe through.

And it would still be considered a crime to poses it... whereas having an "old" REAL ID you could argue that you were holding/found it for a friend/relative.

Well let me put my 2cents in...! I got my first fake ID @ 15. And then I ended up getting like 3 others @ one time in Manhatten! I went to an all guys school so all we did was drink, party, and try to be college guys! Although, best solution is older brother's friend's that is expired! I once came across a website that rated several fake id sites. So if you found that site it recommends the best place to get fake ID's on the web! But you'll have to spend easily a $100 for a good quality and reliable one. There was one company in N. FLorida that you sent in your picture I believe and they mailed you your fake ID! The scanner on the back worked on the ID's and everything.
I would recommend you guys to take the chance on one of these sites, and share amongst eachother the best legit one. Yes you can lose $100 but if you're 15/16, believe you'll have a blast with the ID! And how many times does someone go for a liq. run and you throw 20 bucks on the table and get no change! Someone is making money off you!! So get the ID and make a few extra bucks on the weekends doing beer runs!! But as I'm sure you guys know, THE RISK GOES WAY UP WITH EVERYTHINGGGGG!!!!! Now I'm 21 and I drank more when I was in High School than now! So live it up fellas!!

Yah, come to think of it... I drink far less now then I did at 16. Which was only two years ago. Well, not so much less -- in fact, more -- but I don't drink nearly as much in one sitting as I once did.

Totally agree. Being 18 totally sucks if you don't smoke and don't really go to clubs, and don't need to buy porn. Then again the old jewish guy down the street let any girl buy booze any time. Only downside was that they had a crappy selection and it was overpriced..and they didnt have PBR

Then again, I haven't partied since my birthday party in October when I had my friend (22, I always had friends that were way older ) get me 2 kegs of PBR at BevMo (that place is heaven). Well, the party got rained out and we ended up splitting a shitload of beer and a bunch of wine between about 10 people. Well..the kegs went pretty fast and the rest is all a blur.

But my life is completely engulfed in school right now so I don't go out much. I'm not transferring to a university (only at comm. college right now) for a few months so unfortunately, theres no dorms and no good parties. Anyone know how the parties are at UCSD or UCLA?

and bars, however expensive, are definetly the shit. Especially when the bartender gives you free double shots.
