I awoke my laptop(PowerBook G4 667) from sleep and there's this red line, one pixel in width, that spans the top the screen to the bottom. is my display just old? someone make go awaaaayy!

Isn't that a transistor or something going out? I forget what causes it, I'm not sure if massaging at a certain place will possibly make it go away like some dead pixels. Have you gone to the knowledge base on apple's site about it? It isn't an Apple only thing though, I've heard of this happening to LCD's. |

it's likely a cracked video cable. often times pressing on the hinge in the lower left or right corners will make it go away.
you can order and replace the cable (since your machine is likely out of warrenty anyway) but they're extremely delicate, so it's not the easiest thing in the world to do. Google is your frenemy. Caveat Emptor - Latin for tough titty I tend to interpret things in the way that's most hilarious to me |
