Anyone have opinions about best portable speakers?

I did some research and think the JBL ON Tour speakers may be the trick?

thanks!

No one has portable speakers for the laptop??

I've narrowed it down to:

Tritton’s Sound Bite

Altec Lansing XT1

Creative TravelSound Notebook 500

JBL ON TOUR

Why not go to a store (Best Buy, etc.) and try some out? I've seen some of those on the shelves there before.

I think I would pick the JBL On Tour speakers. They run off battery power, which means they can drive bigger speakers (6W total) than a USB-powered device (2.5W max). Creative's product also uses batteries, but tops out at 4W total. Even if you don't need the extra power of the JBL unit, you won't be maxing out some poor little amplifier and getting a nasty hiss in the background.

You need a portable power plant.

Checked out the speakers at Best buy. The Altec Lansing XT1 portable speakers are pretty good...blew away the JBL on Tour. Can't compare w/desktop versions but great for on-the road. Not sure why the JBL's had such great reviews?? The sound was weak with little depth.
