So, how do I tell if a new memory stick is really working properly and the machine will stay stable? What software and where from? (Free as in beer, if possible.)
edit: machine is 700MHz iBook, 128MB memory + 256MB more now. |

Yup.
Rember is the most thorough memory checker I've found for Mac OS X. It's a wrapper for Memtest, a program that you can run from single-user mode to really check every last ounce of memory. They're both free as in beer! The quality of this board depends on the quality of the posts. The only way to guarantee thoughtful, informative discussion is to write thoughtful, informative posts.
