I figured since I started the last one I should start this one, especially since I know someone who has an employee that was just diagnosed with it.

I am prepared to have the title of this post changed like the Covid-19 thread, as there are already discussions afoot inside the WHO to change the name of the pox because it is considered to bring prejudicial feelings toward certain regions of the world.

While I don't get that, I understand that my confusion over a name change is part of my own built-in prejudice.

Do we know if this is transmissible via surface contact?

Or is it still prolonged secretion swapping?

Not necessarily secretion swapping, more prolonged skin contact.

BBC had a good primer, previously linked in the Daily News topic, and then ARS Technica followed up with a more extensive overview, likely with some of the same source material since some of the wording seems identical.

Nothing more to add on a personal level, and no reactions in California as with COVID, where some counties were the first in the nation to provide guidance
