I just read Brad's sticky regarding the policy on IBL (In Before Lock) posts:

I'm not sure what constitutes an IBL post. Can a guideline be posted regarding what constitutes a IBL post so the forum members know what to look out for? Thanks - Rabbit

Basically it is a post like "This is going to be locked" or "Post before this gets locked" etc. At least that is my understanding of the IBL posts they are trying to prevent.

If you happen to make a post in a thread that devolves into a flame war or something, and then the mods lock it, you're fucked because you were 'In Before the Lock'.

I know you're not serious, but let's not create a wrong impression here. Only posting "IBL", "1n b4 lox0rs!!", or other nonsense will get you in trouble - or if you're one of the flamers. Just posting in a locked thread (before it's locked, obviously) is not dangerous at all.

For some time, there were lots of useless threads, and people would post "IBL" until a mod would lock them. That's hardly happening anymore, unless there's a spammer, and then it's even more annoying than the spammer him-/herself.

That's actually part of the idea behind this policy. Some idiots will post "IBL" in perfectly legitimate threads that are not going to be locked. I've had to clean up a few threads from that kind of nonsense and I don't like it.
