Hey where the white women at?
|
For some reason I cannot connect to Yahoo to retrieve my email. I can get to Yahoo, but when I click on Mail it times out, this has been happening for a few weeks now.
I also have POP access enable so I use Mac Mail to send/recieve email from this account, but Mail times out too. Although it had worked for months prior to this. I first thought it was an issue with Safari (although this doesn't explain why Mail times out), so I tried Firefox and Shiira but same result. So I then tried using my MacBook and it working flawlessly. So it's something unique to my iMac, but I cannot think of what it would be. I see no relation between going to Yahoo via a browser and going to Yahoo via a mail client, yet they both are unable to connect. Any ideas? |

if it is any help, i had this problem with my PC a year ago. wouldn't connect to yahoo, just like you said. got my mac and it worked, so i just figured i'd forget about it. perhaps Yahoo has blocked your IP? it ticked me off to no end...
best of luck |

I also posted this on the Apple forums and nobody had any responses?!?!
Can't be my IP cause I connected from my MB, using the same Internet connection. It's weird and I really wish I knew what the problem was. |

Did you try to clean out your cache?
Did you check if you or someone else might has blocked Yahoo? |

Yes, I've tried clearing my cache.
And no, Yahoo! isn't blocked. (is there a way to block it in OS X, or do you mean blocked by the router) Here's some other things I've tried... I created a new account but have the same problem, Yahoo times out (https://login.yahoo.com/config/mail?.intl=us) I also tried pinging the address and I got a reply, so there's a connection. But what would stop both Mac Mail and Safari from connecting? What do those two share, besides the actuall connection? Meaning I can't think of any software setting that would effect both. |

when i had the problem, i even tried re-installing all of my browsers...all to no avail. it must be something screwy with yahoo. the yahoo mail page was the only one that wouldn't work for me too. i had my two laptops set up side by side (of course, not trying to connect at the same time). my Powerbook worked just fine...laptop didn't.

You could check the router setting just in case someone mucked with it while you were away or something.
Secondly, have you checked the Yahoo's help as to whether they might require a specific protocol to be enabled or disabled, or something to that effect? |

Well I can connect with my MB, so that's what's confusing me.
And I haven't tried Yahoo's help, but I'm using the exact same settings as my MB. Like I've said before, I don't understand why both are broke. If one work and not the other then that would be one thing, but both can't connect and it's pissing me off. And I've checked the router, besides I'm the only one who has access to it. GRRRRRR! |
