I'm not gonna be able to do this until later on tonight because of school, but I just wanted to let people know it's there.

No more Twitter. It's Mastodon now.

Still doesn't bring back Address Book Bluetooth support, if the release notes can be trusted. What gives?

198MB here as well on an MB. Also, Software Updated is bogging down the computer in a way I haven't seen before, even though iStat says it only uses about 7% of CPU.

Gonna have to wait to pull the trigger until I hear how nicely it plays with Pro Tools.

No big difference here, let's hope it'll solve the graphics problems on my gf's MBP (she's about to reboot ... fingers crossed).

The Spaces fixes alone would be worth the risk for me. Also with that much MB there has to be some under-the-hood stuff going on too. Spaces has had some pretty hairy switching / UI redraw issues that forced me back to DragThing, so hopefully I can have more success this time with the switching behaviors.

...into the light of a dark black night.

This is actually one of the reasons I never got on board with Spaces. Maybe I'll give it a try again now...

AH! Yes, let me know how that goes! My old MPB was a nightmare to use with an external, non-Apple monitor after I installed 10.5.2 and the Leopard Graphics Update.

Logic, logic, logic. Logic is the beginning of wisdom, Valeris, not the end.

Seems to be working. Her problem was the constant flickering in Safari and LightRoom because of some graphics driver problems, and that seems to be gone.

Could this be another hint that .Mac is going to include some kind of partnership with Google?

Given that Address Book has had Yahoo! syncing for a while before that, and that there is no Yahoo!-.mac partnership… I'd say no.

Other 10.5.3 features:
  • option to back up to Time Machine while on battery
  • option to move to a Space with open windows when switching to a program which doesn't have open windows in the current space

There was the occasional glitch, but I use Spaces a lot on my MacBook, and really like them. Took me some time to try them out too, but they just let me organize my stuff so much better than Exposé. I even use them at work now where I have two screens, and now three Spaces vertically, one for programming, one for writing, and one for browsing. Mail sticks on the second screen, so I always have my email at hand. Perfect.

Once you've installed 10.5.3, there's another update to get a Digital Camera Raw update. My brother's a happy bunny - his new EOS 450D is supported now.

I just hope they fixed a few specific things, like the dock and Finder. I had the Dock/Finder freeze on me a lot in 10.5.2, and Keynote froze a lot too, but that may be a bug in the program itself. Those three things are big issues, especially in the mind of a presentation.

Well 10.5.3 screwed up my Penryn MBP. Reinstalling Leopard now. First time software update screwed my computer up.

Yup, the power cord, RAM cover, and battery position are dead giveaways that its a PB not a MBP.

The 'Graphics slowdown until you get 10.5.3' warning in DL2 is gone now.

Haha, I should hope so.

189 MB for me, downloaded and installed. I'm waiting for a video to download before restarting though. The RAW Camera update came down at the same time as 10.5.3 for those interested.

90% of statistics can be made to say anything 50% of the time.

10.5.3 seems to include some significant changes under the hood. A new beta of the iPhone SDK was released maybe an hour or two ago that depends on 10.5.3.

I might be nuts, but I swear now that 10.5.3 is running that my screen is brighter... I'm probably just nuts.

You sure it didn't just reset the brightness settings?

Somebody on ars also commented that his screen looked sharper ... so perhaps they did tweak the brightness or contrast or something. What computer are you using, jdcfsu?

I'll take before and after photos when I install on my LED-backlit MBP.
